Cadus Criolla 2018

The One-Liner

Raspberry compote with fresh red fruits.

Tasting Notes

A refreshing change in style to stereotypical full bodied Argentinian reds. This wine exhibits a pretty aroma profile of raspberry compote with fresh red fruits on the palate and crunchy acidity. Think somewhere between Gamay and Cinsault

Criolla was introduced to South America by the Spanish conquistadors who brought the variety over from its native home, the Canary Islands. The variety is known for its resistance to drought hence its popularity in the Mendoza region, pre-irrigation.

Cadus Signature Series Criolla, 2017 // “Made for the first time in 2017 from a pergola vineyard planted in 1946, this thrilling Criolla is spicy, peppery and scented with rose petals, with summer pudding flavours and good underlying grip.” Tim Atkin MW (Decanter ‘The New Generation’ – October 2018)
